چکیده

22 Multidisciplinary treatment of cerebral aneurysms includes endovascular coiling and open 23 neurosurgical clipping techniques, however our understanding of long-term outcomes after 24 coiling of large cerebral aneurysms remains limited. We present a case involving the 25 development of a previously coiled posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) aneurysm in a 6426 year-old man with lesion enlargement and symptomatic mass effect. CT angiogram demonstrated 27 a 3.9×2.6×2.4-cm partially thrombosed aneurysm adjacent to the left vertebral artery. The 28 patient underwent resection to relieve the compressive effect. We discuss the efficacy of 29 endovascular coiling and surgical clipping in this case as well as review the relevant literature. 30 31 PeerJ PrePrints | https://dx.doi.org/10.7287/peerj.preprints.882v1 | CC-BY 4.0 Open Access | rec: 10 Mar 2015, publ: 10 Mar 2015 P re P rin ts

Isolated dissecting aneurysm of the left posterior inferior cerebellar artery: endovascular treatment with a Guglielmi detachable coil.

An isolated progressive dissecting aneurysm of the left posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) associated with a persistent trigeminal artery was successfully treated by endovascular occlusion of the proximal PICA with a Guglielmi detachable coil.

Comment on “Bilateral Anomalous Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery-Anterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Anastomotic Arteries Associate with a Ruptured Cerebral Aneurysm”

We previously reported an unusual case of bilateral posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA)-anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) anastomosis associate with a ruptured aneurysm. Moreover, also this case had segmental absence of both distal vertebral arteries (VA). During the 7 to 12 mm embryonic stage, the basilar artery is formed by fusion of the longitudinal neural arteries. The VAs ...

Intractable Hiccups Due to Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Aneurysm

This is the third reported case of a posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) aneurysm presenting as intractable hiccups (IH). A previously healthy 29-year-old woman was admitted with a 2-week history of hiccups occurring >100 times per minute. Symptoms persisted despite numerous noninvasive therapies. Magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance angiogram of the brain showed a left PIC...

Coil embolization of posterior inferior cerebellar artery isolated aneurysms.

I read with great interest the article by Tikkakoski et al (1) describing their treatment of an isolated dissecting aneurysm of the left posterior inferior cerebellar artery with Guglielni detachable coils (GDCs). I would like to draw the authors’ attention to two additional articles relating to this subject. One article published in the Journal of Neurosurgery was a case report of an isolated ...

Thrombosed Large Distal Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Aneurysm Mimicking an Infratentorial Ependymoma

Large or giant intracranial aneurysms can simulate brain tumors clinically and radiologically by virtue of their progressive mass effect. Unlike aneurysms from alternative locations, those arising from the distal posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) are uncommon. We report a patient who experienced progressive hemiparesis with magnetic resonance imaging findings suggestive of an infraten...
